    FAQs

    Q1: Is venison biltong healthy?

Their wild nature means that they are pasture-fed and produce some of the leanest meat around. Beef biltong is a very healthy, keto-friendly snack but venison biltong can be even better for you.

Q2: What cut of venison is best for biltong?

We use all the Primals – Sirloin and Rump cuts for making biltong.

Q3: Can venison biltong go off?

If venison biltong is exposed to moisture or stored in unsuitable conditions for an extended period, it will eventually spoil. Always store biltong in a cool, dark, and dry place and consume it by the recommended date. If it smells off or has an unusual appearance, it’s best to throw it out.

Q4: How long can you keep biltong?

Tips for Storing Beyond Bush Venison Biltong

      • Store in a Cool, Dry Place: To maintain the quality and flavour of your Beyond Bush Venison biltong, keep it in a dry, cool environment. Low temperatures help prevent spoilage.
      • Avoid Direct Sunlight: Direct sunlight can cause the biltong to overheat, increasing the risk of spoilage. Store it away from heat sources.
      • Use a Paper Bag, Not Plastic: Plastic bags can make biltong sweat, leading to unwanted moisture buildup. Instead, use a paper bag to keep your biltong dry yet moist.
      • Seal Properly to Keep Pests Out: Ensure your biltong is stored in a sealed container or bag to protect it from pests and maintain its delicious taste.
      • Shuffle Moist Biltong: Occasionally shuffle and move your biltong to prevent moisture from accumulating in specific areas.
      • Ventilate Large Slabs: If you have large pieces of biltong, ensure they are well-ventilated to continue the drying process effectively.
      • Add Paper Towel in Storage: When storing biltong in a pantry, placing a piece of paper towel at the bottom of your Tupperware or glass jar can help absorb excess moisture, further drying out the biltong and protecting it from the elements.

Enjoy the rich flavours and premium quality of Beyond Bush Venison biltong by following these storage tips to keep it fresh and tasty!

    • The traditional spices used on biltong are all natural ingredients that you’re familiar with like salt, pepper, vinegar, coriander and paprika. There are also fewer harmful chemicals in favouring and preserving.
    • It’s light and stores well, so it’s ideal for long car trips, camping and hiking. Or just keep some in your gym bag. It’s high in protein so it’s the perfect post-workout snack.
