    FAQs

    Q1: Is venison mince healthy?

Given that venison meat is leaner than cows, venison is generally healthier to eat than beef. An average cut of venison has around half the calories and a sixth the saturated fats of a similarly sized cut of beef. It also has more proteins, vitamins and minerals than beef.

    Q2: How mince is made:

Ground venison, or venison mince is venison that has been finely chopped with a knife, meat grinder mincer or mincing machine. It is used in many recipes including hamburgers, Bolognese sauce, meatloaf, meatballs, and kofta.

    Q3: Can mince be refrozen?

Venison mince that has been thawed in the fridge is safe to refreeze as is. The raw meat should be refrozen within two days of it being thawed. To freeze venison mince, wrap the package in plastic wrap, aluminium foil or freezer paper, or place it in a freezer-safe bag, before freezing to minimize the risk of freezer burn.

Q4: Can mince be defrosted in the microwave?

Use the defrost setting on the microwave to thaw the mince, turning it halfway through. This method should only take 5 minutes. Make sure you cook the mince immediately as microwaving can cause some of it to start cooking.

Q5: Can mince meat be cooked from frozen?

Mince can be cooked from frozen and it’s pretty much the same as cooking it from fresh! Simply pop your frozen mince into a pan and keep it moving over a low temperature as it begins to thaw and separate. Once your mince has come apart you can turn the heat up and continue to stir the mince until evenly cooked

Q6: Can mince be cooked in an air fryer?

The answer is yes you can. There’s no fuss, no mess and it takes far less time than cooking mince on the hob. Once you’ve cooked your minced beef in this way, you’ll never want to cook it any other way again.

Q7: Why does mince turn brown?

Here’s how to tell if mince meat is still safe to eat.
